The San Francisco 49ers moved their mandatory minicamp up from next week to this week as the NFL offseason continues to roll on. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who has been the subject of trade speculation, is still rehabbing from shoulder surgery that he underwent back in March. While not entirely surprising, here's the 49ers' latest move with Garoppolo as the rumors continue to swirl, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Pelissero reports that the 49ers have excused Garoppolo from their mandatory minicamp this NFL offseason Normally, players who miss out on the offseason program would be subject to a fine.

Garoppolo will continue to rehab his shoulder away from the team while they remain on the lookout for any trade possibilities.

With Garoppolo away from the team for virtually the entire offseason and Trey Lance receiving all of the starter reps, all signs are pointing towards the latter being under center for the 49ers in Week 1.

Garoppolo threw for 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2021 while leading the 49ers to the NFC Championship game. Despite the team's success, questions about when former no. 3 overall pick Trey Lance would start persisted.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan declined to name a starter earlier in the offseason, though reports emerged in April that Lance was receiving all “indications” that he would be the team's starter in 2022.

It seems like a matter of time before Garoppolo is traded, though it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
