It's no exaggeration to say that the San Francisco 49ers are in the Super Bowl thanks to the efforts of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. In fact, the team is more than happy to throw contract extensions to their two key figures in management in order to build upon the good times they're currently having on the team.

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL.com reported that the team is more than happy with their ability to take the 49ers back to Super Bowl contention in the short time they've been in the team. Given their list of accomplishments so far, contract extensions was the only right thing to do.

This turn of events would have been unimaginable for 49ers fans a couple of years ago when the two of them were brought in to turn a struggling team around. The reputation surrounding them before the hire was enough to raise more than a couple of eyebrows.

Shanahan is an offensive mind with a knack for scoring, but the collapse of the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI during his stint there as offensive coordinator stuck in the minds of fans. Moreover, Lynch was a TV broadcaster before becoming the general manager for the 49ers. The choice to hire the two proved to be quite unpopular among the supporters.

However, things have changed since then. They did a great job in bringing this team together, and it's thanks to them that the 49ers are only 60 minutes away from winning the Super Bowl. Fans hope that this fantastic season will end on the highest note: they win Super Bowl LIV and the two key figures in their success sign another contract.
