Jimmy Garoppolo reportedly struggled during Wednesday's practice with the San Francisco 49ers, throwing three interceptions in a six-throw span. Despite Garoppolo's turnover woes in practice, his teammates aren't overly concerned with him heading into the season.

Jimmie Ward, one of the members of San Francisco's secondary, was quick to point out that Garoppolo helped lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl last season.

“Jimmy G, smooth like usual,” safety Jimmie Ward said, via Cam Inman of the Times Standard. “Made great throws last year, got us to the Super Bowl. He’s going to do a hell of a job this season. He’s going to make great throws.

“Not worried about him. He’s going to do his job. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league. They’ll know after this year. Again.”

Besides Ward, veteran Johnathan Cyprien, who signed with the 49ers earlier this month, is already aware of Garoppolo's talents.

“He’s the chief. He’s very smart,” Cyprien said. “He knows where to get with the ball. He has a great release and his arm can put the ball wherever he wants.

“He’s a great quarterback and also a great guy. To me he seems like a servant leader.”

While having the best season of his career in 2019, turnovers were a bit of an issue for Garoppolo. The former second-round pick would throw 13 interceptions in his first year starting in all 16 games.

The odd thing about the Garoppolo practice situation is that he had a similar occurrence last year. As he was battling back from a torn ACL from the season prior, Garoppolo threw five consecutive interceptions in training camp in 2019.

This time around, Jimmy Garoppolo threw three interceptions during San Francisco's red-zone drills. Though, in his defense, he was working without George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk in the offense. With that in mind, his teammates aren't making too much of Garoppolo's recent struggles in practice.
