The San Francisco 49ers made a splash with the acquisition of left tackle Trent Williams. Although the move to add Williams was certainly understandable, there had been plenty of speculation regarding how this would sit with cornerback Richard Sherman.

After all, the two have had their fair share of misunderstandings in the past. According to Keiana Martin of the team's official website, Sherman and Williams have already addressed the feud:

Trent said he and Sherm spoke after that incident and quickly “buried the hatchet.”

He said they've built a good relationship over the last 7 years and talk a lot in the offseason.

No drama. All love.

It is certainly encouraging to see that there is no bad blood between the two. Sherman has never been one to let go of a grudge throughout his career. The punch he had taken from Williams after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFC Wild Card would have given him more than enough reason to take issue with the arrival of his newest teammate.

Regardless, the pair has had more than enough time to patch up their relationship and it appears they have taken advantage. San Francisco can now rest assure that there will not be any existing tension in the locker room heading into the 2020 NFL season.

Sherman has taken on a leadership role as an integral part of the 49ers' elite defense. The onus will fall on Williams to have the same kind of impact on the offensive side of the ball.
