Social media was once again filled to the brim with hilarious memes on the first day of the free agency period for the 2020-21 NBA season. One of the biggest storylines so far is Dwight Howard's sudden change of heart after initially tweeting out that he will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Moments later, the now one-time NBA champion reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The internet, of course, couldn't let this opportunity pass and shared their most hysterical reactions involving Dwight's latest Laker saga.

This Melo meme pretending to shoot the ball before pivoting was pretty spot on, too.

Lastly, this Iman Shumpert interview where he talked about the late Kobe Bryant pretty much sums up Dwight Howard's curious decision to leave Hollywood for Philly.

A quick search of Dwight Howard on Twitter will yield plenty more outrageous memes about his departure from LA. The Lakers, meanwhile, seemed to have moved on from the eight-time All-Star rather quickly, signing former Los Angeles Clippers rival Montrezl Harrell to take his place.
Howard clearly wanted to stay in LaLa Land after the Lakers gave him a non-guaranteed deal at the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign. The now 34-year-old center proved he can still contribute to a championship-seeking team and gave the Lakers' bench a major lift in their title run. However, a classic case of miscommunication between Howard's camp and the Lakers brass ultimately led to their breakup.
