All throughout the entirety of the 2020-21 NBA season, Steph Curry lit up the scoreboard and set several scoring records on his way to capturing the league scoring title. With the Warriors already off to a hot start and having won almost every game they've played, it seems like Steph could be on his way to back-to-back scoring titles. Especially after he posted 45 points during a close win against the Los Angeles Clippers last week.

However, the dawn of a new season is now upon us and there are several other superstars heading into the the 2021-22 NBA season who have dedicated their entire offseason to expanding their offensive repertoire. With all these stars set to put on a show all season long, it's hard to overlook other candidates for this year's NBA scoring title. So without further interruption, let's take a look at the five players who have the best chance to overtake Steph Curry as this season's scoring champion.

2021-22 NBA Scoring Title Candidates:

5. Jayson Tatum

With big changes in play for the Boston Celtics this season, Jayson Tatum will be ready to take his game to the next level and become the focal point of Boston's offense. As he continuously diversifies his well-rounded offensive game, Tatum will be an elite scorer to keep an eye on this season with his slashing, mid-range mastery, and lethal 3-point shot. The addition of Dennis Schroder will also prove to be a huge benefit to Tatum as this will give him more open looks and easier finishes around the rim.

This season could mark another leap for Tatum as he looks to take on more of the scoring load and lead the Celtics on another deep playoff run. Looking to build off his gold medal run with Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics this past summer, Tatum will continue adding to his resume with a strong case for winning this year's NBA scoring title.

4. Trae Young

Coming off a terrific run to the Eastern Conference finals during last year's NBA playoffs, Trae Young has already gotten off to stellar start this season. As he continues to showcase his limitless scoring range, elite ball handling ability, and unmatched speed, Young will definitely be a finalist for the scoring title this year.

Considering he's already taken the league by storm after coming up with a series of clutch plays that's further proven his capabilities to thrive under pressure, this year should only be better for Young.

With Young continuing to lead the way for this deep and dynamic Atlanta Hawks team, there's no doubt that he'll continue to excel in crunch time scenarios and find himself in the race for this year's NBA scoring championship right alongside Steph Curry.

3. Kevin Durant

Looking to avenge last year's disappointing loss to the Milwaukee Bucks during the second round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, Kevin Durant will be out for blood as he aims to light up the stat sheet and set the tone for Brooklyn's high-octane offense all year long. With Durant's offensive versatility, he has the innate ability to play point-forward or scoring guard, and given his size and length, he's established himself as the ultimate match-up nightmare.

Now that Durant is back at full strength, he's ready to play a full season with the Brooklyn Nets and showcase his wide array of offensive moves and torch defenders left and right. Currently on the revenge path, KD is primed to take his offensive game up a few notches and win another scoring title over Steph Curry.

2. Bradley Beal

Last year's runner-up to Steph Curry as the NBA scoring champion, Bradley Beal, is coming into the 2021-22 NBA season locked in and focused on leading the Washington Wizards to a surprise playoff run. As one of the NBA's most electric scoring guards, Beal has showcased his seamless scoring power and put up big numbers every year he's been in the league.

After being sidelined with an injury that took him out of the race to bring home the NBA scoring trophy last season, Beal is hoping to stay healthy all year long while preventing Curry from winning another scoring title. With a revamped Wizards squad at the helm, and Washington already off to a hot start through their first five games, Beal seems like a lock to be this year's NBA scoring champion.

1. Ja Morant

If there's a player on this list who can deny Beal of another scoring title this season, then there's no question it's Ja Morant. Already averaging 30.4 points per game to start off the 2021-22 campaign, Morant appears determined to win the NBA scoring title while leading the Memphis Grizzlies past the first round of the NBA playoffs.

With his athleticism, agility, and grit, Morant has made his mark as arguably the most athletic combo guard in the league. As Morant continues his rise to stardom, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see him hoisting the trophy and coming away as this year's NBA scoring champion.
