It is officially the opening day of 2021 NBA free agency. But the first big Golden State Warriors news of the day didn't have to do with a free-agent signing, but rather superstar Stephen Curry. According to Marc Stein, Curry is expected to sign a massive four-year, $215 million contract extension at some point in the near future.

That's obviously a ton of money, but Curry is worth every penny. There are a number of reasons why that is.

Curry is 33 years old, still in his prime and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. He just came off arguably the best season of his career. Curry's unanimous MVP campaign was arguably better, but the way he dominated being shorthanded the entire season was flat-out special.

Curry left coach Steve Kerr and teammates in awe the entire year last season. The two-time MVP winner consistently put together classic performances so often that by the end of the season, Kerr started telling reporters to use what he said last time about Curry. He said he ran entirely out of ways to compliment the greatness of Stephen Curry.

Curry is also the greatest shooter of all time, if you weren't aware. One thing about shooters compared to athletic players is you never lose your shot. Shooters will always be able to shoot, at least for the most part. And five years from now, on the last year of his contract, Curry will still be one of the best shooters on the planet.

Always being one of the best-conditioned NBA players is also a reason Curry is worth every penny of this new deal. As he gets older, you won't have to worry about him not taking care of his body. He takes this part of the game very seriously, and it has been an enormous reason he seems to be still improving his game.

The baby-faced assassin is also box office gold. The Warriors are in a new arena, and Stephen Curry is one of the biggest NBA attractions in the league. He fills the seats and is must-see TV. Although $215 million over four years is unheard of, the amount of money the franchise will make from having Curry on the roster won't compare.

At the end of the day, Stephen Curry deserves this. He once was an underpaid superstar in the Bay Area. Now, the greatest player to wear a Golden State Warriors jersey is about to be rewarded with another massive contract after his last one. He's certainly worth it, though, because an all-time great like Stephen Curry is priceless.
