Zlatan Ibrahimovic just won a Serie A title with AC Milan, but it could've been his last season playing professional football.

The Swede has undergone another knee surgery which is set to keep him out for 7-8 months. Now, he is seriously considering the idea of retiring as a result after numerous injury setbacks over the years.

Via Fabrizio Romano:

The 40-year-old has truly done and seen it all at the highest level. AC Milan certainly benefited from his services over the last three seasons as Zlatan bagged 33 goals in 60 league appearances. The historic striker also netted eight times this term en route to capturing the Scudetto.

Ibra's current deal at the San Siro expires next month and with him now sidelined for the foreseeable future, it feels unlikely AC Milan will want to extend his contract.

If Zlatan does ultimately hang the cleats up, what a legendary career it has been. The ex-Sweden international has won 32 trophies and competed on the biggest stages in the sport. Ibrahimovic gave all he had to Milan and certainly played a huge part in their success across the last few years. Even more impressive, he was able to go over to the MLS, score goals at a ridiculous rate, then return to Europe and still produce. That just simply doesn't happen these days.

Let's hope we can see Zlatan on the pitch again but if not, he would be retiring with his head held high.
