Both of these teams got the job done last night to advance to this position in the tournament. Only four teams remain! Miami vs. Duke is set to tip-off here soon and this game will follow. Virginia Tech defeated Notre Dame last night 87-80 in a higher-scoring affair. North Carolina defeated Virginia by 20 and very easily as the Cavaliers barely showed up, scoring only 43 points. Why Virginia Tech Could Cover The Spread

Virginia Tech will have a lot on their plate tonight. They will be playing on a back-to-back which is not easy to do in the NCAA. NC will be as well so nobody has the advantage on that part. Virginia Tech will have to play the strongest defense they have played all season. If they allow 80 points to NC, there isn't much of a chance they will win. NC is a far better defensive team than Norte Dame. Virginia Tech will have to shut down Armondo Bacot more importantly, but the rest of the starters can't be overlooked either. This team has four players in double-digits in scoring and can share the wealth easily.

Why North Carolina Could Cover The Spread

North Carolina will need to keep the same energy they had on the defensive side of the ball as they did last night. Holding a team to 43 points is a very good outing on the defensive end. They held Virginia to just 13 first-half points as they couldn't do anything. Brady Manek scored 21 for the Tar Heels as he was in rhythm all game long. Bacot finished with 10 and 11 rebounds as they cruised in the second half. That allowed for the bench to get some extra minutes in the blowout.

North Carolina will need to shut down Keve Aluma tonight. He averages 15.6 points per game on the season and scored 20 in the win over the Irish. He shoots the ball for a high percentage at 53.3% so the Tar Heels can't let him get into a rhythm. They only have two other players who average double digits in scoring so it will take their best game of the season to beat the Tar Heels tonight. North Carolina won the last matchup 65-57 on the road to sweep them on the season series.

Final Virginia Tech-North Carolina Prediction & Pick

I'm taking North Carolina here. This spread isn't very big and it's doable for them to cover. Both teams played well last night, but I think the Tar Heels are the better team and should move on to the ACC Final to face either Duke or Miami.

Final Virginia Tech-North Carolina Pick: North Carolina -2.5 (-110)
