Adam Silver seems to have some sort of opinion formed about the recent Kevin Durant trade. According to Tim MacMahon over at ESPN, Silver made some recent comments regarding how the Golden State Warriors are affecting the league as a whole.

Nobody knows why Silver decided to weigh in on the trade fiasco. Maybe he got tried of other team complaints regarding the ridiculousness of how stacked the Warriors are. After all, Silver must rely on the collective success of all 30 NBA teams, so if one team is simply insurmountable, the others will surely follow with critiques.

On the flip side, Sliver must accept that players should have the freedom to do whatever they want in free agency. The league wouldn't even exist without their hard work on the court, so Kevin Durant as a player just has some leverage over NBA personnel who don't strap on the basketball shoes.

All in all, it just comes down to what Kevin Durant wants as an NBA superstar. Sure, he'll probably follow the footsteps of LeBron James and make consecutive Finals appearances, but the fact that he joined the team that beat him badly in the Western Conference Finals shows that he is sacrificing his reputation for guaranteed championships.

Nobody will probably remember in a decade or so the controversy concerning Kevin Durant's trade, but he will surely remember it. If he's able to internalize the acceptance of defeat with his time in OKC, then hopefully he will ride off into the sunset with GSW.
