That's one heck of a consolation prize, AEW fans.
After being held out of Forbidden Door due to the poor relationship between CMLL and NJPW, Rey Fenix took to the Lucha Libre AAA ring for Triplemanía XXX – the premier event of the AAA calendar that is weirdly enough split over three individual nights in April, June, and October – to compete in a five-man match with Laredo Kid, Black Taurus, Hijo del Vikingo, and one-time AEW free agent target Bandido for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship and the AAA Latin American Championship.
Confusing? Maybe a little. Complicated? You bet. One of the best multi-man Lucha matches of the year? Yes, yes, and yes.

Facing off against four other wrestlers that he's shared the ring with a combined 61 times, Fenix took to the ring without his brother, who was booked in a match later on the card versus Blue Demon Jr., and put on a performance for the ages, deploying his typical high-flying style loaded with GIF-worthy spots against similarly-athletic foes and performed some truly eye-popping spots like his standing cutter on Vikingo, or the top-rope double stomp he used on Black Taurus to secure the pin and bring a pair of belts back from Tijuana, Mexico to Milwaukee, where AEW will have their go-home Dynamite before Forbidden Door.

Now granted, will Fenix actually be on that show? Maybe, maybe not, but goodness gracious, if Fenix does make an appearance, the tag team specialist will certainly draw a ton of attention from the fans in attendance physically and virtually, as it's not often you see a performer wear double belts to the ring… except maybe Kenny Omega, FTR, Will Ospreay, etc.
