MJF cut a pipe bomb promo during Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, calling out head honcho Tony Khan and complaining about former WWE wrestlers making more than him. He also demanded that Khan fire him during his rant.
Chris Jericho got in the action, taking to Twitter with praise for Khan and AEW while undermining MJF and WWE in the process:
For the record @AEW is the best sports entertainment company I’ve ever worked for & @TonyKhan is the best boss I’ve done business with. If certain talents feel they’re under compensated, maybe ur not as good as u think u are. Go elsewhere PLEASE. You’ll be begging to come back!

I highly doubt the endgame here is an exploding barbed wire death match between MJF and Khan, so it looks to me like AEW has something long-term planned between MJF and CM Punk. Is MJF’s pipe bomb the start of an angle with the kind of long-term legs to it that can keep AEW ratings up through the end of the year when they’ll be negotiating a new television contract?
CM Punk just earned the AEW title by beating Hangman Adam Page at the Double or Nothing event last weekend. Given everything that's happening, it wouldn't be too surprising to see a MJF-CM Punk battle for the world title at some point down the road.
