When AEW's Dax Harwood came up gingerly from a move early on in FTR's three-way match with Roppongi Vice and NJPW's United Empire tag team of Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan, it looked like the end of what could have been a guaranteed 5-star match. Harwood rolled under the ropes with Cash Wheeler following close behind and was ushered to the back by Doc Sampson while the match inched on.

Was that the end of the match? Would Tony Khan and Gedo have to pull a quick audible and rebook the match on the fly? Or would Wheeler have to wrestle the match on his own and overcome five different wrestlers to earn the IWGP Tag Team Championship and retain the ROH Tag Team Championship he was already holding?

For a few minutes at least, it looked like the former. Wheeler found himself the consistent target of the United Empire's wrath, having to tag out to Trent Beretta at one point to earn a reprieve from his punishment, but in a true stroke of luck that proved incredibly beneficial to the current Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion, it didn't stay that way for long. No, in a true twist of beneficial fate, Harwood overcame his injury – at least enough to get cleared backstage – made his way back into the ring, and was able to finish out the match in the ring instead of as a spectator from the backstage area. After exchanging holds and near-falls with Rockey Romero, FTR hit the Big Rig and found themselves the new holders of the IWGP Tag Team Championship belts.
