After what seemed like a bridge-burning betrayal, Swerve in our Glory is back on AEW programming.

Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland as a team actually has somewhat of a history. The two teamed up years ago before AEW was even a thought – though Swerve was known as Shane Strickland at the time – working at least six matches in AAW and OTT in 2017 and 2018. With that in mind, it is no wonder that when the two joined forces in AEW against Team Taz in April, they worked together extremely well.

The teaming of Lee and Strickland, who started using the name Swerve in Our Glory in their excellent three-way tag team title match at Double or Nothing, was a winning combination of two extremely over ex-WWE free agents, and showed promise despite being in a stacked tag team division.

But then, it (almost) all came crashing down.

Fast forward to the Interim AEW World Title Casino Battle Royal, where Swerve betrayed his partner in pursuit of championship gold. Any experienced wrestling fan assumed that the team had dissolved right then and there, and the two former partners would start feuding. However, on this past episode of Rampage, Swerve emotionally pleaded with Lee to keep the team together.

While it seemed that Lee was still somewhat skeptical, he clearly was accepting enough to already have a match on the books with Strickland, as the card announcement for the upcoming 6/20 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation includes Swerve in our Glory versus Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett.

In what already looks like a fun episode of Elevation, featuring indie favorites like Max the Impaler, Heidi Howitzer, and Warhorse as well as a match between Andrade El Idolo and Frankie Kazarian, Swerve in our Glory’s return should prove to bring back momentum for the duo, as they prepare to once again feud with Team Taz.
