Texas A&M landed one of the grand prizes of the 2022 recruiting class when it was announced in early January that five-star linebacker Harold Perkins was headed to the Aggies. The number-five overall player according to ESPN, Perkins was set to join three other five-star recruits at Texas A&M next season. However, in a shocking twist, Perkins decommitted from Texas A&M on Monday and reportedly has his sights set on Florida and LSU after his decommitment, per ESPN.

Five-star linebacker Harold Perkins decommitted from Texas A&M on Monday.

Harold Perkins shocking move comes just a few weeks after he committed to join the Aggies following the Under Armour All-America Game. He reportedly came away impressed after a visit to Florida with new coach Billy Napier, and has one planned for this weekend at LSU with the Tigers following his Texas A&M decommitment.

It's not clear why Perkins decided to ultimately move on from the Aggies, though it could be a landscape-altering move depending on where he ends up. The New Orleans native plans to announce his official decision on February 2.

Perkins has been a force for his Cypress Park High School defense, totaling 93 tackles- 23.5 for loss- seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks, among other statistics, in just 20 games played.

Whether it's LSU, Florida or even Texas that benefits from Harold Perkins' presence on defense, it's clear that his post-Texas A&M decision will be a huge factor in determining the college football hierarchy next season.
