Al Iaquinta is a man known for not mincing his words and not keeping things to himself. If he thinks it then you can be sure he is going to say it.

This was the case regarding his reported UFC 268 fight against Bobby Green. While everyone was excited about the fight being added to UFC 268, Iaquinta was rather confused by the announcement.

“I was watching the fights on Saturday and I fell asleep watching them,” Iaquinta told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour (transcription by Mike Heck.) “I woke up and looked at my phone and I had 9,000 messages — Instagram this and Twitter that. I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And then I’m seeing they announced the fight. I was like, ‘What the fuck? I haven’t signed a contract yet.’

It isn't that Iaquinta doesn't want the fight, for him, the issue is in his contract. The lightweight was hoping to get things cleared up after his last fight but he had a hard time reaching the UFC higher-ups.

His fight was then announced live on the broadcast but Iaquinta hadn't signed a contract yet. It's fair to say the announcement put pressure on Iaquinta and the New Yorker wasn't thrilled with the UFC.

“It kind of hurt me a little bit,” Iaquinta said. “It left a bad taste in my mouth. But it kind of motivated me. Fuck everybody. What the fuck is that shit?”

Al Iaquinta hasn't fought since UFC 243 back in October 2019. Since then he has been healing up injuries and trying to get healthy enough to compete.

Only time will tell if the contract gets signed and he competes at UFC 268. Fans will be hoping the exciting matchup with Bobby Green becomes official.
