The Dallas Mavericks‘ offseason gamble on Andrew Bogut has been a flop thus far this season.

The initial plan of having a dual 7-footer lineup with Dirk Nowitzki at forward and Bogut at center has been a complete disaster as the two haven't managed to be effective on the floor together.

After a lengthy 11-game absence, Bogut has struggled to fit in the Mavericks rotation. He's realized that coming off the bench may be the best option for the team.

“There's no point of starting with Dirk and then getting pulled 30 seconds into a game,” Bogut told ESPN's Tim MacMahon. “So I went to coach and said, ‘If you're going to continue to do that, just bring me off the bench. I won't be offended. We'll get on with life.'”

The Australian international is playing only 24 minutes a night and averaging 3.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. His shift to the bench would allow for a faster pace of play for the first unit, while anchoring the second unit's defensive presence.
