Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani orchestrated a season to remember in 2021. Many current and former MLB players lauded Ohtani for having put together what they viewed as the greatest season in league history, but for Angels general manager Perry Minasian, he believes that baseball has not yet seen the best out of the all-around talent.

“I think there's another level there, on both sides,” Minasian told MLB Network's ‘High Heat' program. “I know that sounds crazy with what he did last year but I do. I think there's another level on the mound. I think there's another level at the plate and I forward to seeing what he does this season.”

For Minasian to say that Ohtani can take his game to “another level” sure is noteworthy. Ohtani simply shined at the plate and on the mound over his 2021 American League MVP-winning campaign, from his 46 home runs recorded to his career-high 3.18 ERA.

Ohtani logged 639 plate appearances in his fourth year with the Angels, and he will have a chance to see more pitches in the upcoming season after MLB and the Major League Players Association (MLBPA) agreed to add a new ‘Shohei Ohtani rule.' This will allow for a starting pitcher to stay in the game as a designated hitter even after being pulled from the mound.

If Ohtani can mirror his standout performances from the 2021 season to this year, it sure would bode well for an Angels team that is in desperate need of a return to the postseason.
