The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-0 on Monday in Anaheim to kickoff a four game series. Neither team had much offense to speak of but the Angels did just enough to earn the win. The Angels had one player smash 2 home runs and drive in all 3 of the team's RBI's. Typically, you would guess that player was either Shohei Ohtani or Mike Trout. Although Trout did have one of the most insane triples you will ever see, it was Taylor Ward who stole the show in Anaheim on Saturday.
Ward was moved to the leadoff spot for Monday's game. He stated that he was unaware of the lineup switch. But he certainly did not seem to mind batting in front of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
Ward went 2-4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI's. Both homers came off of former AL Cy Young award winner Shane Bieber, who was excellent against almost every other LA batter.
He took a modest approach when asked about his first ever MLB two homer game.
“It’s cool — honestly, I had no idea. I just found two barrels and got lucky with it.”
But what he did is nothing short of incredible. Hitting two home runs off of a guy like Shane Bieber speaks wonders about your ability. The first home run was a wall-scraper that just made it over the yellow line in right field. Outfielder Myles Straw just missed bringing it back.

The second one was a shot to center field that cleared the wall with far more authority. The homer gave the Angels a 3-0 lead.

It is safe to say that Taylor Ward earned another look as the Angels leadoff hitter. He will aim to lead the Angels to victory once again over Cleveland on Tuesday.
