The Los Angeles are having a rough go of it lately. The latest setback happened Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox. Early in the game, Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout was forced to leave the ballgame with groin tightness. He will be evaluated by the medical staff with an update pending.

Trout had hit a two-run home run in the first inning, driving in Shohei Ohtani. Then in the third, Trout doubled. However, he appeared to come up a little limp as he strolled into second. The Angels star was replaced shortly thereafter.

This is just the latest blow to a team in disarray.

Los Angeles has lost 12 straight games coming into Tuesday night against the Red Sox. The recent losing streak caused the Angels brass to fire manager Joe Maddon earlier Tuesday. That move came as a surprise, especially to Maddon himself.

A couple weeks ago, the Angels were considered the biggest surprise in the MLB season. They were 27-17 and sitting in first place in the American League West. Now, they find themselves 27-29 and 8.5 games back of the Houston Astros.

Trout has dealt with a myriad of injuries over the last few seasons. He will almost assuredly have more tests done later Tuesday night into Wednesday. The hope is that there is no structural damage and the groin just tightened up on him. In his place, the Angels placed youngster Jo Adell in the lineup.

Adell was expected to have a bit of a breakout season. That has not come to fruition thus far, hitting just .219 in limited action.
