The Los Angeles Angels have trotted out phenom Shohei Ohtani on the mound– and in the leadoff spot– on Wednesday against the New York Yankees. The star pitcher/fielder/batter just does it all. However, his start did not go so well, and he didn't even get past one inning against the Yankees on Wednesday.
The #Yankees blow it open in the first with a 7-2 lead and the #Angels' starting pitcher and leadoff hitter out of the game. Shohei Ohtani gave up seven earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, elevating his ERA to 3.60.

Ohtani simply did not have it, which is extremely rare for him. He walked four, gave up a pair of hits, and gave up seven runs in just 2/3 of an inning as the Angels faced a huge deficit early on.

In another weird stat, the outing by Ohtani was the most earned runs he has ever given up in a game with the Angels, and he was not even able to get out of the first inning in a start he will likely forget about down the road.

The Yankees fans piled into Yankee Stadium to see the Angels star and unfortunately only saw him briefly, as he was also taken out of the lineup after being roughed up on the mound in the first inning.
The Angels' woes continue, and the Ohtani matchup everybody was waiting for has been cut terribly short. He will bounce back and forget about this one and should be in the lineup for their next game.
