Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is no longer considered untouchable. Per The Telegraph, the Gunners are open to selling the striker if a worthy offer comes in as they look to raise funds to sign more players before the transfer deadline.
The North Londoners have once again endured an atrocious start to the Premier League campaign, losing back-to-back matches to Brentford then Chelsea on Sunday in the London Derby. In the process, Arsenal has failed to score a goal while conceding four times.
Aubameyang, who was once considered the main man at The Emirates, has had a rough 12 months. He missed extended time last term due to COVID-19 and malaria, managing to score just 15 goals. The Gabonese international then tested positive for Coronavirus again prior to the Brentford clash, but he was able to make a quick 20-minute cameo against the Blues as a substitute.
It will be tough for Arsenal to sell Aubameyang at this point, though. His hefty wages are seen as a burden as he currently makes £250,000 per week. But, a possible swap deal with another club could be a possibility, depending on who comes calling. Aubameyang signed a new deal with the side last September.
The Gunners are looking to offload a number of first-team players as they aim to revamp the squad. Hector Bellerin, Eddie Nketiah, and Lucas Torreira are among the other names who could be facing an exit.
If Aubameyang does in fact stay put, Mikel Arteta will be hoping he can find his previous form and give Arsenal some more firepower in the final third with another tough game coming up next weekend against reigning champions, Manchester City.
