Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been absolutely crucial to the club's success over the years, but it appears they're about to give the Pole an ultimatum on his future.

According to German outlet Sport Bild, Bayern will try to sell Lewandowski this summer if he doesn't put pen to paper on an extension at the Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga champions have a policy where they offer any player over 30 a one-year deal. That's expected to be on the table for the lethal frontman, but the Bavarian outfit would ideally like Lewandowski to sign a two-year contract with his current deal set to expire in 2023.

The Bayern talisman is arguably the most clinical forwards in world football and was just recently named the FIFA Men's Best Player of the Year after getting snubbed for the Ballon d'Or late last year by Lionel Messi, despite breaking Gerd Muller's Bundesliga single-season goal-scoring record as Lewandowski netted a whopping 41 times.

If Bayern does indeed try to get rid of the Poland international, there will be no shortage of European giants who would jump at the opportunity to secure his services. The 33-year-old hasn't cooled down one bit this term either, already bagging 23 goals in 19 league appearances and another nine in the Champions League.

Lewandowski did voice last summer that he was up for a new challenge after so many years at Bayern. However, this squad provides him with top-notch service on a consistent basis, which is why he scores such a ridiculous number of goals.

Moving to a new club would certainly change that as they would need to get climatized to having Lewandowski leading the line. He's currently in a good situation and there's really no reason to change it. If Bayern ends up winning the Champions League again as well, you'd have to believe Lewa would stay put and commit his future to the German giants.
