The Chicago Bears were already a team on many people's radar as a potential breakout candidate in the NFC for the 2018 NFL season. Now their chances of becoming relevant again may have drastically improved with the addition of superstar defensive end, Khalil Mack.

After seemingly endless speculation about Mack's future with the Oakland Raiders, the storied franchise traded the perennial Pro Bowler to the Bears for draft picks. Mack's presence instantly makes Chicago's defense that much better, but new head coach Matt Nagy will only have a short amount of time to get him up to speed before Week 1, via ESPN.

Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy said Sunday that he will be “smart” but aggressive in getting Khalil Mack up to speed in time to play next Sunday night at the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears expected to have him on the field for the first game of the season against their division rivals and his presence on the defensive line will be critical to the team's chances of pulling off the upset against Aaron Rodgers and company. Mack talked about his readiness heading into his first game with his new team.

“I feel like I'm ready, but you know, the game, we've got to get out there and get to it, and my body will respond the way it's going to respond, and then coaches are going to kind of ease me into it, and so we're going to figure it out,” he said.

The NFC North division may be one of the most competitive in the NFL this season with the Bears trying to compete with the Packers, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings. Green Bay and Minnesota were already considered heavyweights, but now Chicago may have become a threat by adding arguably one of the best defensive players in the league today.
