The Chicago Bears shook up the NFL world earlier this offseason when they traded stud defensive end Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers. Mack, an All-Pro pass rusher, excelled during his time with the franchise, making his departure a painful one. However, the Bears still have defensive end Robert Quinn, who totaled 18.5 sacks to finish second in the NFL behind only Defensive Player of the Year and Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt. Given that Chicago is seemingly in a rebuild, Quinn's name came up in possible trade inquiries ahead of the NFL Draft. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport revealed the Bears' stance on a potential Quinn trade.
Per Rapoport, the Bears are not currently planning on trading Quinn with the NFL Draft a day away. For his part, the Chicago star said that he would like to remain with the franchise, though he noted that the NFL is a “crazy business.”
There was certainly a level of uncertainty from Quinn, even after meeting with new head coach Matt Eberflus on Tuesday. Of course, he certainly has reason to be at least a little uncertain about his standing within the franchise, given the events of earlier this offseason.
Quinn even cited the Mack trade, which occurred in March, as reason why he wouldn't be surprised if he was dealt. Of course, shipping away their second-best defender after trading their first would mean that the Bears would be doubling down on a rebuild.
It appears that as of right now, the Bears have no plans to pursue such a move.
