The Chicago Bears will not have the services of Danny Trevathan for the next two games after the NFL suspended the linebacker for his brutal hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams during last Thursday’s match at Lambeau Field. The Packers won the game in convincing fashion, 35-14, but the team couldn’t celebrate fully afterward with their minds consumed with concern over Adam’s health status.
While it was later revealed that Adams didn’t incur any serious injuries, it did not stop the league from cracking the whip on Trevathan with NFL Vice President of Football Communications Michael Signora releasing the following statement about the suspension via Twitter.
A suspension for Trevathan was very much expected even before the penalty was handed down. Trevathan’s hit on Adams was among the dirtiest we’ve seen this season, and there is surely no place for that on the football field.
The NFL has taken steps in making the game a lot safer for players mostly brought about by the growing concern for CTE brain disease (CTE) brain disease
With Trevathan temporarily out, the Bears see their already slim linebacker depth chart become even thinner as linebackers Jerrell Freeman and Nick Kwiatkoski both injured.
