The Cincinnati Bengals have brought back a familiar face while wasting no time in doing so on Monday. According to an initial report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bengals have elected to re-sign offensive tackle Bobby Hart en route to signing him to a new three-year contract.

As a result of the newly inked pact, Hart will earn a total of $21 million over the course of the next three seasons.

Hart notably started all 16 regular season games for the struggling Bengals last season while taking over the team's primary right tackle. Despite the fact that the veteran offensive lineman finished the 2018-19 campaign 49th out of 58 qualifying tackles in pass blocking efficiency, according to Pro Football Focus, the Bengals still elected to give him a hefty pay day this offseason.

“I thought he did a great job,” new Bengals offensive line coach Jim Turner said earlier this offseason, via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I thought he was phenomenal. I know he gave up some sacks and pressures and all this other business, but if you really watch him play, he played with passion and I thought he played well. I just like what he brought to the table as far as energy is concerned. I think he's an athlete and I think he's a good player, a good, solid player.”

The Bengals did not reach the postseason in 2018-19 and would been a surprising team to do so come the 2019-20 campaign. Even so, the team will look to press forward with Andy Dalton, Joe Mixon and A.J. Green leading the way.
