Joe Mixon has been a workhorse for the Cincinnati Bengals all year long. In Week 4, he suffered an ankle injury late in the team's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Per Pro Football Talk, despite Mixon not having practiced all week, the Bengals are giving him until Saturday to see if he can play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Friday that Mixon will work out on Saturday and the team will make a decision at that time about his status for Sunday.

If Mixon is out, Samaje Perine figures to be next in line to get the brunt of the carries for the Bengals.

Cincinnati is off to an impressive 3-1 start on the season but will get a major test in Week 5 with the Packers coming to town. The Bengals have beaten the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars so far this year. Those teams have a combined 2-10 record so, Green Bay will be the biggest test yet by far.

Green Bay has been riddled with injuries in recent weeks to key players like Jaire Alexander, Elgton Jenkins, Za'Darius Smith, Kevin King and others. All four could be out Sunday for the Packers.

If Mixon is able to give it a go, it makes the offense that much more dynamic for the Bengals as they look to pick apart a defense that is missing pieces all over the place.
