The Cincinnati Bengals season comes to an end after a miraculous run to the Super Bowl ended in failure. Nonetheless, they should feel proud of how they played this year. Nobody saw them making it as far as they did, especially with their offensive line.
But according to ESPN's Ben Baby, Bengals star Joe Burrow talked up the offensive line despite their poor performance in the title game, claiming they “played really well.” Of course, the big guys up front tried their best, but ultimately, they gave up seven sacks to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. One of which led to the Bengals losing the game.
The offensive line is the biggest concern for the Bengals, as it has been for years. Now with Burrow under center, the front office needs to make this a top priority. Burrow could have thrown his teammates under the bus, but instead, he congratulated them for their efforts and put some of the blame on himself. That's something only a true leader would do.
It should be a fun offseason for the Bengals, as they don't need to make too many major changes to the roster. Restructuring the offensive line is at the top of the list, but the front office should look into making changes in the secondary as well. We'll see how it plays out, but Cincinnati is likely to remain atop of the AFC North for years.
Look for Joe Burrow to continue being the leader the Bengals need, as the future is incredibly bright for Cincinnati.
