Cincinnati Bengals second-year running back Joe Mixon appeared to have suffered a minor injury in Wednesday's practice that forced him to leave the field early.

However, any concern about the situation has quickly been erased as he was back in the fold and participating in plays on the field, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Bengals are hoping that Mixon can put together a breakout 2018 campaign with a full season ahead of him as the starter out of the backfield. He had shown flashes last year that he could be a huge playmaker for the offense as both a runner and receiver, which he put on display once again with an impressive 24-yard touchdown reception that saw him break a tackle and spin past another defender for the score.

In 14 games played in his rookie season, Mixon tallied up 626 rushing yards with four touchdowns while catching 30 of 34 targets for 287 receiving yards. This included putting together his first career 100-yard rushing performance against the Cleveland Browns with 114 yards and a touchdown along with three catches for 51 receiving yards. Much of this was done with split-carry duties with Jeremy Hill as he had to work his way toward earning attempts out of the backfield as his talent was able to help him get to that point.

With Hill now a member of the New England Patriots, there is a chance for him to firmly secure the starting job next season while Giovani Bernard backs him up. It has put forth a situation where he could establish himself as one of the promising young running backs in the league that could be a stable factor in the backfield for the Bengals for the next several years that helps his team get back to the playoffs after a two-year absence.
