In 2020-21, the Milwaukee Bucks emerged victorious to cash their preseason backers at +600, taking home the Larry O’Brien trophy for the first time in 50 years. With the 2022 season around the corner, the odds on whether the Bucks will repeat or which team will topple them have been released. Let's take a look at the 2022 NBA Championship Odds, updated weekly, below.
The Brooklyn Nets start the season as favorites over the Los Angeles Lakers to win the title, as the Lakers upped the stakes by acquiring superstar Russell Westbrook in the offseason.
The defending champion Bucks come in third in the preseason rankings, listed at +800. This is slightly below the figure they were listed at last year.
The Golden State Warriors (+1,200) and the Phoenix Suns (+1,500) round out the bookmakers top five contenders in 2022 to start the season.
Notably absent from the upper echelon are the Los Angeles Clippers (+1,600) and the Philadelphia 76ers (+2,000) who are dealing with injured stars (Kawhi Leonard) and disgruntled personnel (Ben Simmons).
At the bottom of the list, we see extreme long shots in the Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder (+25,000).

Analyzing 2022 NBA Championship Odds
The first step in selecting which team to bet on is to analyze if the payoff is worth the risk.
If you decide that the Nets (+300) have the best chance to win the championship, then you can bet $100 on them to win $300.
Even if you think the Nets have a better chance to win the championship then any other team, it could still be worth it to bet on a different team for the high payout.
Even if you predict it is more likely for the Nets to win than the Suns, the Suns payout is significantly higher than the Lakers.
While $100 pays off $300 for a Lakers victory, $100 would pay off $1,400 if the Suns (+1,400) triumph.
