The Houston Astros take on the San Francisco Giants. Our MLB odds series has our Astros Giants prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Astros Giants.

Will the Houston Astros be able to turn their season around before it is too late? That is one of the biggest and most intriguing questions of a very unusual MLB season. The 2024 campaign has featured some bizarre and jarring plot twists, and the struggles of the Astros are front and center among them. The Astros have been a fixture in the American League Championship Series since 2017. They have always made deep playoff runs over the past seven years, appearing in the World Series in four of those seven seasons and winning the World Series twice. The Astros have been hit very hard by starting pitching injuries, and that explains part of their struggles, but most of the problem for Houston has been inconsistent offensive performance, something which began with the season-opening four-game sweep loss at the hands of the New York Yankees. Houston's offensive woes have been combined with some ugly late-game losses such as the most recent one on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels. Astros led 7-4 after five and a half innings and 7-5 after seven innings. They allowed two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to blow the game and fall by a 9-7 score. The brutal nature of the loss was magnified by the fact that the Angels had not scored more than four runs in 15 straight games. The Halos finally got well on offense at Houston's expense. The Astros are 30-36 through 66 games and face an uphill battle in the attempt to reach .500 before the end of June. If the Astros can't get to .500 by July 1, they might face some very tough questions in terms of what to do at the trade deadline.

The San Francisco Giants have fallen well short of their expectations. They are under .500 despite having acquired Matt Chapman and Blake Snell in free agency. The Giants have struggled to hit this season and have a lot of holes in their batting order. They have a strong ace, Logan Webb, and a quality closer in Camilo Doval, but there are more flaws in the roster than the front office expected. If the Giants can't make the playoffs in a weak National League this year, it will rate as a massive disappointment for a franchise which — in 2021 — won 107 games and has fallen off the map ever since.

Why The Astros Could Cover The Spread

The Giants do not have a strong offense or a consistent team. The Astros have better offensive talent than San Francisco, point-blank. Houston will also be angry and focused on Monday after blowing that late lead to the Angels on Sunday.

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

The Giants just won a weekend series on the road against the Texas Rangers. If they can do that, they can handle the struggling Astros at home.

Final Astros-Giants Prediction & Pick

The Giants and Astros are both utterly unreliable and volatile teams. Stay far away from this game on Monday night.

Final Astros-Giants Prediction & Pick: Astros -1.5
