Don't look now, but the Toronto Blue Jays will face off with the Chicago White Sox on the south side of the Windy City! It's time to take a look at our MLB odds series where our Blue Jays-White Sox prediction and pick will be revealed.
Fresh off of snapping a three-game losing streak, the Blue Jays are more than desperate to start stringing together wins more consistently. All together, Toronto possesses a 24-29 record but they have beaten the White Sox by a score of 5-1 in the series opener. The Blue Jays will call upon lefty Alek Manoah who is 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA.
On the other side of things, the White Sox are in the middle of a season that they would soon like to forget. Even though there is more than 100 games remaining in the regular season, Chicago has dug themselves an insurmountable hole nearing the end of May. Nonetheless, all the White Sox can do is take things one game at a time and let itself play out. With an ugly 1-10 record in their last 11 games, Chicago will give the baseball to RHP Chris Flexen who is 2-4 with a 5.69 ERA.

Why The Blue Jays Will Cover The Spread/Win
Above all else, the Blue Jays have demonstrated that they have Chicago's number at this point of the season. Attempting to secure their second-series win of the season over their American League counterparts, the main recipe for success that Toronto will want to cook up on Wednesday evening will come in the form of Mr. Alek Manoah himself.
At first glance, the Blue Jays have been struggling in many facets of the game to begin their 2024 season, but one of their strongest elements has come from starters logging in a plethora of quality starts. In fact, Toronto is tied for the fifth-most quality starts in all of baseball.
Things haven't always been pretty for the Blue Jays this season, but a stellar start from Manoah may go a long way in determining whether or not Toronto is capable of covering the spread.
Offensively, it will be important to keep tabs on slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to see if he can regain his power stroke. Over the course of the past three seasons, Guerrero Jr. has mashed a whopping 106 home runs. However, he has only hit a total of five baseballs into the outfield bleachers through the team's first 53 games of the season. If Toronto is going to take care of business, it may be up to the 25-year-old to send some baseballs deep into the night.
Why The White Sox Will Cover The Spread/Win
Things can't get much worse for one of the worst teams in baseball, but don't count out Chicago no matter how bad they appear to be.
Clearly, the White Sox are desperate to end their losing ways from a brutal last couple weeks of play, and their first order of business will need to come in the form of some much-improved pitching. On average, the White Sox are allowing 4.55 runs per game and will need a better effort from Chris Flexen than during his last outing from the mound. In that appearance, it was Flexen who gave up five hits on four runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Regardless, the 29-year-old has shown glimpses of being on his A-game while embarking on the rubber, and he will need to hone in on his skills to help lead Chicago to victory. ‘
All in all, the White Sox possess an underwhelming offensive assault but be on the lookout for shortstop Paul DeJong to provide some power with his bat. He may only be slashing .226, but his seven home runs on the year lead the team. If a critical moment on offense ends up showing its face, it may be up to DeJong to come up clutch in the runs department.
Final Blue Jays-White Sox Prediction & Pick
When looking at the bigger picture, it may look like the White Sox don't stand a chance, but the +1.5 run spread as underdogs and tempting +150 Moneyline begs to differ. If you're feeling risky but looking for a nice payout, take the White Sox to cover the spread.
