The LSU Tigers lost only one game through January 12. They were unbeaten just after Christmas and met every challenge in nonconference play in the first two months of the season. Then they ran into a number of injuries and have lost eight games since Jan. 12. They are trying to regroup now that they are healthy again. It has been a difficult process to survive various roster dislocations, but a recent 20-point win over Missouri looked a lot like the LSU team which didn't lose in the first six weeks of the season. Coach Will Wade is hoping that the performance against Missouri is reflective of the team which plays in Fayetteville on Wednesday night. LSU's struggles came mostly at the offensive end of the floor. The Tigers' offense died late in games, one of them being a home-court loss to Arkansas in January which started LSU's downward slide and also marked Arkansas' recovery from a rough period in late December and early January. It will be fascinating to see if LSU snaps back into form, or if Arkansas is able to put the clamps to the Tigers on defense once again. This is part of the backdrop to any LSU Arkansas pick you might make.
Arkansas is a very different team compared to mid-January, just like LSU, but whereas LSU started its season brilliantly and then struggled, it has been just the opposite for the Hogs. They were a hard team to watch in late 2021 and early 2022, but in the middle of January, head coach Eric Musselman was able to break through with his players and unlock their potential. One by one, top SEC teams have come to Bud Walton Arena to take down the Hogs. One by one, they have failed.
Kentucky couldn't win in Fayetteville. Neither could Tennessee. Neither could Auburn. Arkansas has affirmed a top-four place in the SEC standings by winning each of its home games against the other heavyweights in the conference. The Hogs have one of the toughest home courts in college basketball. They will rely on that fact to help them against LSU in a game the Tigers are hell-bent on snatching from them as revenge for the Razorbacks' win in Baton Rouge.

The Tigers are healthy again. They were great in the early part of the season before injuries hit. They also want to avenge their loss to Arkansas from January. They have a lot to play for, and the injured players back in the lineup will be physically fresh due to their long layoffs.
Why Arkansas Could Cover the Spread
The Hogs have a great home-court advantage in Bud Walton Arena. If Auburn, Tennessee, and Kentucky couldn't beat them, LSU certainly won't. Arkansas can definitely hold LSU at arm's length.

Arkansas should win the game outright, but LSU is now healthier than at any previous point over the past several weeks. The Tigers are certainly excited to play with their regular lineup — or something close to it — and that should bring out their best, especially on defense. This game should be a slugfest, and LSU should be able to keep it close to the very end.
