The Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants. Our MLB odds series has our Dodgers Giants prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Dodgers Giants.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves regularly come up in any discussion of a possible National League Championship Series. The two teams with the most depth and the most options on offense are natural choices to play in the NLCS, but as good as they are — and as good as they can be — there are real obstacles in front of them in the National League. The Philadelphia Phillies have established themselves as a difficult team to beat. Philadelphia's starting rotation has performed better than the Dodgers' and Braves' rotations in the first month and a half of the season. Should the Dodgers be concerned? It's too early for that. However, the Dodgers — like the Braves — must realize that they have not hit as well as they were expected to. We got a reminder of that over the past weekend, when the Dodgers lost two of three games to the San Diego Padres. Those two losses were a product of deficient hitting. Los Angeles scored just one run in a Friday night loss, and got shut out on Sunday by the Padres.

The Dodgers got shut out earlier this year by the Washington Nationals and have had several other games so far this season in which their offense fell flat. Every baseball team goes through ruts and lulls and dry spells, but the Dodgers were supposed to be a team which had fewer rough patches precisely because they have so many different threats in their lineup. The Dodgers have historically fallen short in October because their bats go quiet. Los Angeles has gone through so many ups and downs in the first month and a half of the season that October worries are already part of the picture in L.A.

The San Francisco Giants engaged the Dodgers in an epic National League West Division race in 2021. There was reason to think the Giants and Dodgers would begin a new and captivating era in their storied rivalry, but the Giants could not maintain their winning ways. Here we are, a few years later, and the Giants are under .500 and struggling to be a factor of any kind in the National League playoff sweepstakes. San Francisco needs to generate some momentum and climb above .500 by Memorial Day or, at the very latest, the first week of June.

Why The Dodgers Could Cover The Spread

The Dodger offense has struggled, and that could be viewed as a reason to bet against Los Angeles, but ask yourself: How many times will the Dodger offense have two straight awful games, or three out of four terrible performances? Having scored one run on Friday and none on Sunday, chances are the Dodgers will hit well in this game and score at least five runs if not more versus the largely impotent Giants, who have struggled to score all season long. Dodgers 5, Giants 3, seems like a very realistic score and a cover on the run line for L.A.

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

The Dodger offense is stuck. Los Angeles scored just six total runs in three games over the past weekend against the Padres. The Giants can cover the +1.5 run line even without winning straight up. Their pitching can contain the scuffling Dodger lineup.

Final Dodgers-Giants Prediction & Pick

The Dodgers are the better team, and their offense is due for a breakout game. Take Los Angeles.

Final Dodgers-Giants Prediction & Pick: Dodgers -1.5
