The Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox will close out a three-game set at Angel Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Red Sox-Angels prediction and pick.

These clubs split the first two games of this series, setting us up for an exciting afternoon rubber match. Boston took the first game in a 5-4 thriller, and then the Angels bounced back thanks to a brilliant outing from Shohei Ohtani. Both teams have been playing very well of late and will be motivated to leave with another series victory.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the Red Sox-Angels odds.

MLB Odds: Red Sox-Angels Odds

Boston Red Sox -1.5 (+118)

Los Angeles Angels +1.5 (-138)

Over 9 Runs (-110)

Under 9 Runs (-110)

Why The Red Sox Could Cover The Spread

The Red Sox have been one of the best teams in all of baseball this season. They are currently sitting four games ahead of the Rays in the AL East at 54-33. Boston is 10-2 over its last 12 games and 13-5 in the last 18 head-to-head matchups with the Angels. With Chris Sale set to return for the Red Sox in the near future, the sky is the limit for this club going forward.

Boston has enjoyed some of the most elite offensive production in MLB. The Red Sox average 5.09 runs per game, which is the third-best mark in the majors. They also average the third-most hits per game thanks to brilliant seasons from Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez, and Rafael Devers in the middle of the lineup. The pitching staff has been serviceable for Boston and should see a boost in that department with Sale nearing a return.

The Red Sox will turn to left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez for the rubber match. Rodriguez has struggled this season with a 6-4 record and 5.42 ERA through 16 starts. He has been much better of late, though, with three straight quality starts coming in. The left-hander has allowed five earned runs and struck out 21 batters over his last 18 innings of work.

Why The Angels Could Cover The Spread

The Angels are one of the most talented clubs in baseball on paper. They have an electrifying lineup led by two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is must-watch television, and his recent run has led the Angels to wins in five of their last six games to date. Los Angeles will be going for a third straight series victory in the finale as the club looks to claw its way back into playoff contention.

The Angels have been one of the best offensive clubs in baseball despite the extended absence of Mike Trout. Ohtani leads the league in home runs at 31 and is a big part of why the Angels average 4.94 runs per game. They've been even more dominant at home with 5.51 runs per game. The Angels' pitching staff has been horrible, though, which is why they have just a +0.56 run differential at home despite all of their offensive success.

Los Angeles will turn to left-hander Andrew Heaney for the rubber match. Heaney hasn't pitched well this season with a 4-6 record and 5.40 ERA through 14 starts. The Angels southpaw has been even worse over his last seven starts with a 6.06 ERA. Heaney has allowed 15 earned runs over his last 14 innings, including seven earned runs in three innings against the New York Yankees in his last start.

Final Red Sox-Angels Prediction & Pick

I love the Boston Red Sox in this spot for a few reasons. They are red-hot coming in and possess arguably the best lineup in all of baseball. Boston's key players are all healthy and clicking on all cylinders. They are in a prime bounce-back spot against a pitcher who has really struggled recently. Eduardo Rodriguez doesn't have great numbers, but he has been serviceable and has been especially good of late. The Red Sox have the edge in pretty much every facet of this game.

FINAL PICK: Boston Red Sox ML (-127)
