Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread
The Philadelphia 76ers have been having a mixed season. At some points the Sixers have looked really good and have managed to compete with the top teams in the league. At other points they have struggled and lost to weaker opponents. Philadelphia is coming off 2 point win over the Atlanta Hawks. The Sixers will look to carry that momentum into another tough matchup. The Hornets shouldn't be taken lightly and if Philly wants to win this game they will need to come out and attack Charlotte.
Leading the way for Philadelphia is Joel Embiid. Embiid is a beast and one of the best big men in the league. In their win over Atlanta he had 28 points and 12 rebounds. Embiid missed some time due to injury but hasn't seemed to miss a beat. The big man is still dominating opponents and will look to continue to do so on Monday. Embiid looks poised to have another big game, and if he does so the Sixers could definitely steal this win on the road.

Another bright spot for this Sixers team has been Seth Curry. This really seems like Seth Curry's year. He is playing a career high 34 minutes per game and has been averaging a career high 16 points per game. While his season averages may not be spectacular, they underrepresent his impact on games. Curry is the guy this team turns to when it needs instant offense. In their win over Atlanta he scored 18 points. Curry is one of the best shooters in the league and has been a big part of this Philadelphia team. Expect him to continue to produce on Monday.
Why The Hornets Could Cover The Spread
The Charlotte Hornets have been one of the most fun teams to watch in the NBA. They are young, energetic, and extremely impressive. The Hornets are coming off a 3 point win over the Atlanta Hawks in a game that had a combined score total of 257. Charlotte is returning home after a four game road trip and will be looking to get a win in front of their home crowd. The Hornets will come into this game prepared and ready to take down a tough Eastern Conference opponent.
Leading the way for the Hornets has been Miles Bridges. Bridges has quickly become one of the best offensive talents in the NBA. In their win over Atlanta he had 32 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Bridges has made massive improvements to his game and it's showing. On the season he is averaging over 20 points and 7 rebounds a game. He is a front runner for the NBA's most improved player and for good reason. Miles Bridges has been a big reason that this Hornets team has been able to win games. Expect him to continue to ball out on Monday.
Another bright spot in this Charlotte team has been Kelly Oubre Jr. With injuries taking down some of the best players in Charlotte, Oubre has been given the opportunity to step up and he has done just that. In their win over the Hawks Oubre scored 28 points, in the game prior he had 25. On the season Oubre is averaging nearly 16 points a game, but he has proven that he can step up for this team when they need him. If Oubre can have another big night, then Charlotte could definitely cover and maybe even win this game.

Given the spread, this is a pretty tough decision. The Hornets were extremely impressive in their win over Atlanta. They managed to get a dub on the road without some of their best players. On the other hand, Philly is pretty much healthy, and on paper their healthy roster is better than Charlotte's injured roster. With that said, this Hornets team has shown a lot of grit and determination, so even if they don't win they should be able to make it close. Pick the Hornets to cover.
