The Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz will play in an inter-conference matchup on Tuesday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Hawks-Jazz prediction and pick.

The Hawks and Jazz enter play on Tuesday headed in very different directions. Utah has been one of, if not the best team in the NBA so far this season. The Hawks however have lost four straight games and continue to disappoint coming off of their run to the Eastern Conference Finals earlier this Summer. This will be another tough test for Atlanta, as they played last night at the Golden State Warriors and fell 127-113. The Jazz have the rest advantage, as they have not played since Sunday. The Jazz are coming off two straight losses, their only losing streak so far in the young season.

Here's how bookmakers have set the Hawks-Jazz odds for this Tuesday night matchup.

NBA Odds: Hawks-Jazz Odds

Atlanta Hawks +8.5 (-110)

Utah Jazz -8.5 (-11o)

Over 223 points (-110)

Why The Hawks Can Cover The Spread

Article Continues Below

The Hawks will need to continue to try to find themselves on Tuesday. They have blown their last two games vs. the Phoenix Suns and Warriors despite having leads in the second half and looking like the better team for stretches of each game. Failing to close was a theme for the Hawks early last season as well, so this may just be something they slowly work themselves out of. They are working De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish back into the flow, and things have been a bit awkward at times. Trae Young is still adjusting to the new foul calls, and his free-throw output is down compared to last season.

The Hawks are at a disadvantage in this spot having suffered a hard-fought loss to the Warriors last night while the Jazz were at home resting, so it might be difficult for them to win in this spot. They may be a decent candidate to cover, though, as the Jazz have dropped two straight contests and haven't looked quite as sharp in those two games.

Why The Jazz Can Cover The Spread

Utah is second in the NBA in net rating, but has dropped their last two contests. The first loss was a tight loss at the Miami Heat, who have also been one of the best teams in the NBA early in the season. The second loss was at the Orlando Magic the very next night, which sounds like a really bad loss on the surface. Orlando had the rest advantage in that spot, and a young energized team vs. a veteran team on a back-to-back can sometimes be a neutralizer for the gap in talent. The Jazz have a great chance to get back in the win column and cover as well on their home floor vs. the struggling Hawks on Tuesday night.
