The Brooklyn Nets will face the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Nets-Pistons prediction and pick.
The Nets and Pistons will play on Sunday night as Brooklyn looks to continue their strong start to the season. Kevin Durant is playing at an MVP clip and will need to do so on Sunday as James Harden is out due to rest. Durant should ideally have a bigger than usual game in this one as he will be counted on for additional scoring and facilitating duties. The Pistons have won just four of their first 25 games this season and are currently on an 11-game losing streak. Brooklyn still comes into this one as strong road favorites over the Pistons despite being without Harden in addition to Joe Harris and Kyrie Irving remaining out.
Here is how FanDuel set the Nets-Pistons odds for this Sunday NBA matchup.
NBA Odds: Nets-Pistons Odds
Brooklyn Nets -7 (-110)
Detroit Pistons +7 (-110)

Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowThe Nets sit as the No. 1 seed in the East coming into play on Sunday. They picked up a hard-fought road win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. Kevin Durant to no surprise excelled in that matchup to the tune of 31 points. He also spent time guarding Trae Young in the fourth quarter and was able to hold the star guard in check on the way to the win. Durant will need to excel again in this spot on Sunday as he will be without several of his teammates. Paul Millsap is out in addition to the other listed above due to personal reasons. The Nets should still have plenty enough to cover and win in this one vs. a struggling Pistons team.
The Nets are 10-3 on the road this season and 10-15-1 vs. the spread overall.
Why The Pistons Could Cover The Spread
On top of the Pistons being very bad, two of their better players in Jerami Grant and Kelly Olynyk will be out in this one. This leaves Detroit extremely shorthanded and relying on rookie Cade Cunningham to essentially be their leading scorer and best player. This seems like a tall task for the rookie vs. a Nets team that is still stacked with veterans even when considering all the guys they are missing. Patty Mills, Lamarcus Aldridge and other should be able to give Durant enough help to put Detroit away in this one.
The Pistons are 2-10 at home this season and 12-13 against the spread overall.
Final Nets-Pistons Prediction & Pick
If Grant and Olynyk were playing, the Pistons would be a much, much safer play here. Being down two of their better options is a big blow to a team who is already struggling to pick up wins. Take the Nets to cover and win vs. Detroit on Sunday, as Durant alone should be enough to handle this Pistons group. This is a matchup between the best team in the Eastern Conference and the worst one, so the fact the spread is in single-digits is great news for Nets bettors. Despite being without Harden and others, Brooklyn is in a good spot to handle their business with a cover and win over the Pistons on Sunday.
