This should be an exciting interconference matchup for Tuesday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Suns-Raptors prediction and pick.

The Phoenix Suns are coming off of a bad loss to the Miami Heat 123-100. That was probably their worst game of the season as they have been dominant all year long. They are 30-9 on the year which puts them in a tie with the Golden State Warriors for the top seed in the Western Conference. The Suns are finally healthy again and are mostly a full unit. They need to get back into their flow and this should be a good test for them tonight.

The Toronto Raptors are on a six-game winning streak and are surprising a lot of teams lately. They beat the Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz in back-to-back games and are fresh off of a win over the New Orleans Pelicans 105-101. They are now the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, just one game out of the six spot. The East is starting to get competitive and the Raptors might make a case even without star Kyle Lowry anymore.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

This won't be an easy one to cover for the Suns but they are certainly capable of doing so. Toronto is playing very well right now and it's likely they will keep up their good play. Fred VanVleet is tearing it up this year as the full-time starting point guard. He's averaging 22 points per game and Pascal Siakam is right behind him at 20.6 a game. The Suns need to focus on shutting those two down. Phoenix is 13-4 on the road this year and has the fifth-ranked defense against scoring this season at 105 points per game. That is a recipe for success because teams have difficulty shooting well against the Suns. Phoenix is 6-4 in their last 10 games and will be without a few role players Tuesday night. If they can shut down those two players named above then they should cover this spread.

Why The Raptors Could Cover The Spread

Toronto is 7-3 in their last 10 games, but they have allowed an average of 112 points per game. That will get the job done against the Suns. Phoenix is too dominant to be going up against a defense giving up that many a game. Obviously, since Toronto is on a six-game winning streak, they have scored more per game at 116.5. Toronto will need to rely on VanVleet and Siakam to continue to lead the team. Goran Dragic will be out with a personal matter and so that is a big-time veteran presence not available. The Raptors are 12-10 at home this year and with a win can really solidify their presence in the East.

Final Suns-Raptors Prediction & Pick

Toronto is hot right now and that will likely stay the same. They are at home and so they have an advantage but I'm going to take the Suns to cover this spread. Since it's a rather smaller spread, this seems doable for the team with the best record in the NBA. I think this will be a high-scoring affair as well because of the elite offenses and poor defenses at this point in the season. Consider taking the over as well.

Final Suns-Raptors Prediction & Pick: Suns -4 (-110) & over: 223 (-110)
