Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
The Phoenix Suns are coming off of a devastating one-point loss against the Orlando Magic. They came out sluggish following a 10-point victory against the Miami Heat. They will look to regain energy in a bounce back effort against the subpar Raptors. Phoenix has been playing phenomenal basketball all year behind the elite play of Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton. They are top-10 in field goal, three-point, and free throw percentages in the league this season. The Suns also love to share the ball as they are currently second in the league in assists per game at 27.3.
Despite the loss on Wednesday night, the Suns are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 and 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games. They are 6-0 ATS coming off of a loss this season, which is especially promising in this spot. In their last win against this team, Phoenix hit 21 three's on 52.5% shooting. They will look to continue their success against the Raptors, going 13-2 ATS in their last 15 against the team from Toronto.

The Toronto Raptors surprisingly stood tall in their trade talks surrounding Toronto legend Kyle Lowry. Lowry is on the last year of his deal and has expressed interest in finishing the year with the Raps. With no package enticing enough, the Raptors decided to hold onto him and make a push for the playoffs. They are only 1.5 games back of a play-in spot. Toronto has to be feeling good right now as they just ended a nine-game losing streak with the huge win against the Denver Nuggets. With some talent still on this roster, look for Toronto to sneak back up the standings.
The 11th-seeded team in the Eastern Conference has a significant strength on the court. Their ability to create turnovers and turn them into points is elite. The Raptors force 19.5 turnovers per game, which is second best in the NBA. Toronto is definitely undersized and below average on the defensive end, but they have a knack for playing uptempo basketball and causing fits throughout the game. They will shoot at will, averaging over 40 three-point attempts per game and connecting on 38% from downtown. Going 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference, Toronto is in a solid spot to build on their recent win.

I have to say, I'm happy that the Raptors held onto Lowry and think that this team has a real chance to make noise down the stretch. Toronto has serious talent on this roster and should now have a chip on their shoulder. I will be high on this team down the stretch, but not tonight. Phoenix is a top-five team in the league and loves to take care of business against subpar teams. Their proven ability to bounce back from losses makes the Suns a strong play tonight.
