The Phoenix Suns are coming off a loss for only the second time in 2022. The Atlanta Hawks played a grade-A game with Trae Young scoring 43 in the win. Phoenix falls to (41-10) on the season but still owns the best record in the NBA. The Washington Wizards are coming off a huge win over the Philadelphia 76ers last time out. They improve to (24-27) on the year which puts them 11th in the Eastern Conference. If the Wizards show up, this has the makings of being a really good game.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

Phoenix comes into this game as the favorites on the road. That is the right call for this matchup even though they are coming off of a loss. The Suns are favored by a decent size spread here so they will have to win the game by at least nine points to cover as of now. Offensively, the Suns played well against the Hawks. They just can't allow 124 points or you will lose more games than not. Devin Booker scored 32 in the loss and Mikal Bridges added 24. DeAndre Ayton needs to be more involved. He ended with six points but only played 24 minutes in the loss.

The Suns will cover this spread if they continue to play as well as they have over their 11-game winning streak. Washington doesn't pose the same threat offensively as the Hawks do, so if the Suns find a way to contain Spencer Dinwiddie and Kyle Kuzma, they will be just fine. Washington is just 13-12 on their home court while the Suns are 19-5 on the road.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

These two teams meet for the second time this season. Phoenix blew out Washington the first time they met 118-98 back in mid-Dec. Believe it or not, Javale McGee led the Suns in scoring that night with 17 as Booker missed the game in an injury. The Wizards are going to need to play exactly how they played against the Sixers if they want to cover this spread. Bradley Beal did not play in the win which is surprising considering they haven't been able to win with him playing. He will miss this game as well as he continues to heal from a wrist injury. Without Beal, the Wizards don't have any chance to win this game unless the Suns fall apart. But they do have a chance to cover if they defend well and see high-scoring from Kuzma, Dinwiddie, and Montrez Harrell.

Final Suns-Wizards Prediction & Pick

Without Beal, I don’t think the Wizards have any chance to cover this spread against the Suns. Take Phoenix here to cover this spread on the road.
