Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

The Washington Wizards have lost a lot of steam. They started off this season extremely strong but have since slowed down. Through their first 50 games, they have a losing record with only 23 wins and 27 losses. Their most recent loss came against the Milwaukee Bucks by 14. Washington will look to turn things around as they face another tough opponent on Wednesday. The Sixers have had a lot more success than the Wizards, but that won’t stop Washington from trying to play spoiler. Expected the Wizards to come out firing and trying to steal a win on the road against Philly.

The main thing weighing down this Wizards team is their lack of offense. In three of their last four matches, Washington failed to score more than 100 points. The Wizards have been leaning heavily on Kyle Kuzma to pick up the offensive load. Kuz has done a decent job, scoring 25 points in their last game and 30 points in the game prior. However, Kuzma’s efforts have not been enough to lead his team to victory. If Washington really wants to compete they need other players to step up. One roadblock standing in their way is the unavailability of Bradley Beal.

This Wizards team has had to struggle through injuries and COVID absences all season. Washington currently has two players listed on their injury report. Thomas Bryant is listed as day-to-day and is questionable for Wednesday’s game. Bradley Beal injured his wrist and will be re-evaluated in one week. The loss of Beal is a huge one for this team. Even though Beal had been struggling this season, losing him for another week leaves a big gap in the Wizard’s offense. Washington will need to rely on the likes of Montrezl Harrell and Spencer Dinwiddie to really step up and fill in the gaps. If those players and others can step up then this Wizards team could rise to the occasion.

Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread

The Philadelphia 76ers are finally gaining momentum. While they have struggled at points this season they seem to have found their groove. Through their first 50 games, they have managed to win 31 and lose only 19. Their most recent victory came in overtime against the Memphis Grizzlies by three. The Sixers showed that they have the talent and skill to step up when Embiid is out. That victory was extremely impressive, and Philly will look to carry that momentum and energy into Wednesday’s match.

The Sixers did everything right against the Grizzlies. Memphis is a tough team and no one could have blamed Philly for dropping that game without their star big man. However, the Sixers did not just accept defeat. Philadelphia had four players exceed 40 minutes of playing time. Two of those players, Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey, combined for 64 points. Joel Embiid should be returning to play on Wednesday which is bad news for the Wizards. If the Sixers were able to come out ahead against Memphis without their best player, one can only imagine how they’ll do against Washington with their star.

Injuries seem to be the only thing that could hold back this team. Fortunately for Philly, they only have three players listed on their injury report, none of which are new additions. The Sixers have their core roster intact and will be ready for Wednesday. Embiid only missed their last game for rest, but as stated previously, he will be ready to return to action on Wednesday.

Final Wizards-76ers Prediction & Pick

This game should be a blowout. The Sixers have the talent, they have the momentum, and they should have no problem getting the win. However, winning by more than 11 points is never a given. The Wizards could easily rally and decrease the margin of victory. With that said, Washington has lost three of their last four matches by 14 or more points. Pick Philadelphia to win and cover and get ready for a dominant home win.
