The Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars will play in an AFC matchup on Sunday. Let's continue our NFL odds series and make a Bills-Jaguars prediction and pick.
The Bills come into Week 9 rolling, and as big favorites over the Jaguars. Jacksonville looked back in Week 8 coming off a bye week, losing 31-7 to Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks. Why The Bills Can Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowJosh Allen is having another MVP-caliber season, and the Jaguars likely won't have any answer for him and the Buffalo offense. Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley and Dawson Knox make for a tough cover for opposing defenses, as the Bills come into Week 9 with the top scoring offense in the entire NFL at 32.7 points per game. This feels like a lock of a win for the Bills, and the cover might be dead in their sights as well.
The Jaguars have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, and allow 29 points per game. Rookie Trevor Lawrence has been turnover prone to say the least, and a ravenous Bills defense will look to feast on what has been an inconsistent Jaguars offensive line. The Bills are 4-2-1 vs. the spread this season, and this could be another situation where they are simply too much for their opponents.
Why The Jaguars Can Cover The Spread
The Jaguars are a mess, but this is a large spread. It still feels reckless to bet the Jaguars coming off what may have been their worst performance of the season in Week 8. Buffalo outmatches Jacksonville in every area of the game, so it won't be a surprise at all if the Bills run up the score on the Jaguars. The Jaguars are 2-5 vs. the spread, and this may be another spot where things get away from Urban Meyer.
Jacksonville can't seem to put things together, as for every step forward they take two in reverse. Trevor Lawrence has shown flashes of his No. 1 overall potential, but inconsistent play from his line and receivers, as well as poor decisions from Lawrence himself, have made it difficult for Jacksonville to function as a team. The Jaguars often make mistakes offensively that put their defense in a bad spot, and that is not something teams can afford to do vs. the Bills right now.
