The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC Wild Card matchup on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Steelers-Chiefs AFC Wild Card prediction and pick.
The Steelers and Chiefs will meet on Sunday evening with Kansas City looking to find their way to a third straight Super Bowl appearance. Pittsburgh snuck into the playoffs with some luck in Week 18, and will be looking to play spoilers in this matchup. The Chiefs come in as huge favorites over the Steelers in what may be the final game of Ben Roethlisberger's career.

Why The Steelers Could Cover The Spread
The Steelers are a gritty team with a tough defense. Their pass rush, captained by TJ Watt, is their best chance at staying in this game. Kansas City obviously loves to get the ball down the field through the air, and that is something the Steelers could combat with a good pass rush. Offensively, the Steelers may be a bit challenged in this game as they were in their Week 16 blowout loss in Kansas City. Najee Harris comes into this one banged up with an elbow injury, but appears on track to try to gut it out. The Steelers will need their big-play running back if they want any chance at a win this weekend vs. the Chiefs.

The Steelers were 8-9 vs. the spread during the regular season, covering four of their last six games.
Why The Chiefs Could Cover The Spread
Patrick Mahomes and the dynamic Chiefs passing game have them as big favorites in this one. The Steelers will have little options for defending Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, like most teams. The key to this game may be the Chiefs running game, however. If Kansas City can establish a ground game, they could dominate this game. Mahomes being forced into third and longs to throw downfield repeatedly could be a recipe for him to get sacked or potentially commit turnovers. The Kansas City defense will look to shut down the Steelers' offense as they did in their 36-10 route of Pittsburgh in Week 16.
Kansas City vs. the spread
The Chiefs also finished the regular season 8-9 vs. the spread, covering in six of their last eight games. Kansas City was a favorite in all seventeen of their games this season, going 4-5 against the spread on their home field.

Reluctantly take the Steelers and the points in this one. The Chiefs will likely win, but Pittsburgh might find a way to keep it close with their defense. If the Chiefs are able to run the ball, it could be a long day, however. The Steelers getting nearly two touchdowns are still the play, as they have found a way to hang around in plenty of big games before with Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger at the helm.
