Midway through the third quarter of Friday night's game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards, superstar center, Sixers big man Joel Embiid, suffered an injury after landing awkwardly on his left leg. The injury looked much worse than it actually turned out to be, as Embiid is ruled out for the next 2-3 weeks with a bone bruise. However, due to the uncertainty of the situation, DraftKings has completely taken down the NBA MVP odds from their site, per Chris Sheridan.

This apparently is uncharted territory, as this is something that rarely happens in the sports gambling world. It's an odd move by DraftKings to pull MVP odds from their site, considering Embiid isn't ruled out for the remainder of the season. In fact, he's projected to be back in the Sixers rotation by early April.

With the regular season not ending until May 16th, there is still plenty of time for the Sixers' star center to come back and potentially make a case for MVP with a strong finish. In any case, it's a controversial decision made by one of the most popular sports betting sites in the world.

We'll see what happens in the coming months of the NBA season. LeBron James is making a strong case for the MVP award, but so are James Harden and Donovan Mitchell. Embiid was seemingly at the top of most people's list, but his injury could impact his chances of winning the award. DraftKings may just be trying to adjust the NBA MVP odds while getting a feel of the betting market before putting those up again with updated lines.

Injuries happen all the time in sports, but they are apart of those risks people take when placing bets. Keep close attention to DraftKings, as they could have the NBA MVP odds back up again soon.

As for the Sixers, they will have to coax more from Ben Simmons and company, as they navigate through their schedule minus Joel Embiid.
