Why The Twins Will Cover The Spread/Win
Woods Richardson is off to a pretty good start this season. Through his five starts this season, the Twins are 4-1. In four of those starts, Woods Richardson has allowed two earned runs or fewer. This should be the case in this one. The Guardians are in the bottom half of the MLB offensively, so Woods Richardson should be able to have a good start.
The Twins are actually eighth in the MLB in slugging percentage. When they hit the ball, they make some hard contact. In fact, the Twins are 11th in the MLB in average exit velocity. They do not have an easy matchup Friday night, but they are a tough offense to contain sometimes. If the Twins can get their bats hot and find a few barrels, they will be able to win this game on the road.
Why The Guardians Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Guardians have Triston McKenzie on the mound for this one, and he is pitching well. He is pitching especially well in his three starts this month. In May, McKenzie has thrown 18.2 innings, struck out 17 batters, and he has allowed just four earned runs. He was handed the loss on Saturday, but he allowed just one earned in that game. McKenzie is going to keep the Guardians in the game anytime he takes the mound, and this one should be no different. If the continues to pitch well, the Guardians will win this game on the road.
Speaking of pitching, the Guardians are in first place in the AL Central because of their performance on the mound. McKenzie is going to keep the Guardians in this game, and if he leaves with the lead, it is almost guaranteed the Guardians will win. Cleveland has a 2.44 bullpen ERA, which is first in the MLB. Their bullpen WHIP and home runs allowed rank first in the MLB while their strikeouts rank second. Cleveland has a shutdown bullpen, and it is very hard to come back and beat them. If they have the lead after the sixth inning, the Guardians are going to win this game.
Final Twins-Guardians Prediction & Pick
This should be a good game and a good series between the two top teams in the AL Central. For Friday's game, though, I am going to take the Guardians to win straight up. They are having a good season, especially on the mound. I also think the Guardians offense is just a little bit better than the Twins, so I like Cleveland to win. I will take their moneyline.
