Why The White Sox Will Cover The Spread/Win

The White Sox are playing a lot better lately, which is not saying much after their abysmal start to the season. Nonetheless, the White Sox are 6-4 in their last 10 games, which means they are playing some good baseball. In those 10 games, the White Sox are batting .236 with 24 extra-base hits, and just 5.8 strikeouts per game. They need to lock in on offense in this game. Clevinger is not off to a great start on the mound, so the White Sox have to offer some run support in this one.

Cortes does not get a lot of people to chase, whiff, or strike out, so the White Sox have a great chance to put some balls in play Friday night. Along with that, the White Sox are also going to be able to put the ball in play in the air. As everyone knows, Yankee Stadium has that short porch. If the White Sox can get just enough of the ball in the air, they should be able to put one or two out. Doing this will help them at least cover the spread.

Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

As mentioned, Cortes does not get a lot of players to chase, whiff, or strike out. His ERA is above 4.00, as well. However, the impressive stat is his xERA is just .280 while his xBA is .216. This means Cortes is pitching a lot better than his actual numbers show. The White Sox are hitting the ball a little bit better, but they are still the worst offensive team in the MLB. Cortes should be able to have some success in this game and shut down the White Sox.

The White Sox have Clevinger on the bump. He has made two starts this season, and neither has gone five innings. He is coming off a decent start against the Cleveland Guardians, but his first start of the year was on the road, and he struggled. The Yankees offense is second in home runs, top-10 in batting average, runs scored, and OPS. They are a dangerous lineup, especially when Giancarlo Stanton is swinging it well. If they can continue being solid at the plate, the Yankees are going to have no problem winning this game.

This game is a no-brainer for me. I just can not trust the White Sox when anyone but Garret Crochet is on the mound. I will be taking the Yankees to not only win this game but cover the spread, as well.
