Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Yankees are solid at the plate. Currently, they rank eighth in batting average and runs. The Yankees are also third in on-base percentage and home runs. Furthermore, they are fifth in slugging percentage. Their lineup has some talented players who have some history against Ryan.

Anthony Volpe entered Wednesday with a batting average of .269 with five home runs, 21 RBIs, and 28 runs. Additionally, he is 3 for 6 against Ryan in his career and hopes to maintain that level of success. Juan Soto is batting .313 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs, and 28 runs. Ultimately, this will be his first showdown with Ryan.

Aaron Judge is hitting .236 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs, and 22 runs. However, he has struggled against Ryan, going 1 for 7 with three strikeouts. Anthony Rizzo is batting .263 with seven home runs, 22 RBIs, and 23 runs. Substantially, he is 2 for 6 against Ryan with one home run,

The Yankees have the second-best pitching staff in baseball and the second-best bullpen in the majors, demonstrating how tough they are to face when the game goes into the seventh and eighth innings. Schmidt has the confidence in his bullpen.

The Yankees will cover the spread if their lineup can make Ryan throw a lot of pitches and endure long innings. Then, Schmidt needs to have another good start before turning it over to his bullpen.

Why The Twins Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Twins are inconsistent at the plate. Significantly, they are 16th in batting average. The Twins are also 13th in batting average. Likewise, they are 11th in runs and home runs. Minnesota also ranks eighth in slugging percentage. Coincidentally, these hitters have not had much experience against Schmidt.

Eduoard Julien is displaying inconsistent signs at the plate. At the moment, he is batting .228 with seven home runs, 15 RBIs, and 21 runs. It will be his first time facing Schmidt. Thus, it will be interesting to see how the first matchup for the leadoff hitter goes. Carlos Correa is batting .274 with two home runs, 10 RBIs, and 15 runs. However, he is 0 for 2 against Schmidt.

Max Kepler is hitting .321 with three home runs, 17 RBIs, and 13 runs. Yet, he is 0 for 1 from the plate. Catcher Ryan Jeffers has been the best player on this team, with a batting average of .290 with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs, and 22 runs. Now, he hopes to take down a pitcher he is 0 for 1 against over his career.

The pitching staff has shown some signs. Ultimately, they are 15th overall. The bullpen ranks 12th in team ERA, showcasing their ability to hold and close out games.

The Twins will cover the spread if they can find a way to put some pressure on Schmidt. Then, Ryan needs to avoid making mistakes against this dangerous lineup.

Final Yankees-Twins Prediction & Pick

The Yankees and Twins played a low-scoring game to start the series. Amazingly, that was in a matchup between two pitchers who were not the greatest. Schmidt and Ryan are both above-average pitchers. Therefore, it is difficult to see many runs coming across the board. The game remains low, as the Yankees and Twins hit the under in this one.
