With several new additions during the first week of free agency, the Miami Heat have had a very busy and productive start to the 2021 NBA offseason. Miami's master plan of roster overhaul is now officially underway with the signings of Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker, and Markieff Morris, plus the re-signings of Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo, Gabe Vincent, and Max Strus to go along with the extension of Jimmy Butler.

These are big moves that implicate the Heat's desire to return to title contention and make another deep playoff run next season. They've put together a balanced roster with a solid mix of veteran leadership, youth, and athleticism.

With all these new signings and the Heat's desire to win another title, there's still a major need they have to address during what has already been an incredibly busy offseason for them. Let's take a look at the biggest need the Heat still must address after the first week of 2021 NBA free agency.

Heat need a mobile center with a well-rounded offensive game

Over the past couple of seasons, the Heat have established themselves as one of the better two-way teams in the NBA, but their biggest issue has been size and length on the interior. Adding a big with a well-rounded offensive game would perfectly complement their innovative style of position-less basketball.

Having a center who can rebound, block shots, and run the floor while providing them with great spacing and a dominant low-post presence would give the Heat the ultimate advantage and an opportunity to become Eastern Conference champions once again. The best option for the Heat at this point would be to make a trade for a young center who's looking for a change of scenery.

Two players who could fill this need for Miami are Myles Turner and Christian Wood, who are both multi-skilled combo big men who would thrive in Erik Spoelstra's system. Between their rebounding, shot blocking, post play, and perimeter shooting, Turner or Wood are ideal fits next to Butler and Adebayo in the Heat frontcourt. Plus, with both of them being just 25 years old, either of them would give Miami a well-rounded young center to add to their young core.

Wood might be a bit more difficult to pry away from the Houston Rockets, but Turner's name has been in trade rumors for a while. Adding Turner or Wood to a rotation of Adebayo, Robinson, and Tyler Herro would give the Heat a strong group to build around for the future. If the Heat want to get over the hump and bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy back to South Beach, then adding size and depth at the center spot should be at the top of Pat Riley's to-do list this offseason.

This is especially true if they want to overcome the size and strength of Eastern Conference powerhouses like the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers next season. With the Heat looking to climb back to the top of the Eastern Conference and take the league by storm once again, adding a young multi-skilled center would be the most logical move for them to make this summer.
